The health benefits are amazing too. Its a source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Folates, Vitamin C and Vitamin K. This Bhindi Masala is an indian recipe. The taste of it is just too good. Tips:
• Don’t cook bhindi covered for longer time otherwise it will become soggy.
• Okra should be cleaned well before chopping and dried completely with a cloth.

Bhindi Masala (Okra in spices)

Ingredients

  • • 2 cups chopped bhindi
  • • 3 tsp Oil
  • • 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • • 6 to 7 Curry leaves
  • • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • • 2 tsp chopped Garlic
  • • pinch of Hing
  • • Salt to taste
  • • 3 slit Green Chillies
  • • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli powder
  • • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • • 1/4 cup chopped Coriander Leaves

Instructions

  1. • Wash bhindi well under cold water, pat dry it and cut in to small bite size pieces.
  2. • Heat up oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing, curry leaves, garlic and saute till garlic gets nice golden color.
  3. • Add turmeric powder, green chillies mix well and add bhindi, mix well, cover and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
  4. • Add red chilli powder, salt to taste, coriander leaves mix well and cook till the time bhindi gets cooked.
  5. • Sprinkle some garam masala, Bhindi fry is ready to serve!

Recipe: Guar Phalli (Cluster Seeds)

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • Cluster Bean (Guar Phalli) 400 grams cut into inch long
  • Oil 3 to 4 tbsp
  • Onion 1 medium
  • Tomato 1 sliced
  • Red Chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Ginger Garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds roasted and crushed 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Put sliced onion in oil.
  2. Fry onions till brown.
  3. Gather tomatoes, ginger garlic paste, coriander powder and salt and add to brown onions in the pot.
  4. Now stir fry these ingredients till fully blended. (bhoon lein in urdu)
  5. Adding Red chillis and Guar Phalli to it. Stir fry for a minute.
  6. Now add ½ a cup of water and allow Guar to be cooked over a covered pot for 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. Once Guar is ready sprinkle roasted and crushed cumin seeds and green chillies.
  8. Serve either with roti or rice.
