Rounding Off
We round off bigger numbers like we round off smaller numbers as we have already learned.
Look at the following examples to understand how to round off 5 and 6 digit numbers.
Example: Round off 45,767 to the nearest ten, hundred and thousand.
- 45,767 when rounded off to the nearest ten will be 45,770
since 45,767 is closer to 45,770 than 45,760 when rounded off to the nearest ten.
- 45,767 when rounded off to the nearest hundred will be 45,800
since 45,767 is closer to 45,800 than 45,700 when rounded off to the nearest hundred.
- 45,767 when rounded off to the nearest thousand will be 46,000
since 45,767 is closer to 46,000 than 45,000 when rounded off to the nearest thousand.
We follow the same rules to round off 6 digit numbers.
