Simple Present Tense
Simple Present tenses are tenses that describe actions that happen in the present but not necessarily taking place at the moment. For instance, the sentence “I use my car to get around town” is a present action but I am currently not in my car.
Simple present tense is used to express an action that is present, what is going on at the moment, or what you are feeling when you are making the statement. It also expresses actions that are habitual or factual and events that are scheduled by people or nature. The verb used in the sentence will reflect the type of tense the statement is. If the verb is in present form, the sentence is a present tense.
Examples of simple present tenses
I perform a lot of exercises at the gym.
It’s time to go out and enjoy ourselves.
I wash my clothes when I want to
Note: you need to add an –‘s’ to the verb base (e.g., writes, talks, barks) for third singular person sentences.
Example:
He loves my mum.
Henry eats a lot.
It rains a lot in New York.
