Global Village is an extravagant cultural and outdoor entertainment event happening in Dubai since 1996. Nearly 4.5 million visitors came in 2011 with 28 country pavilions. But this year in 2012 more are expected as the venue now comprises of more products coming from 65 countries and 37 pavilions, 12 weekly draws of Chevrolet Camaro, thrilling roller coaster rides, the Giant Wheel, unique live performances and dances, variety of cuisines like popular Pakistani restaurant Bundoo Khan and Indian Hyderabadi Biryani, creative arts like paintings, installation art, sculptures, video arts, photography, sand art, new media, digital art and street art from all over the world and then the famous musical fountain with latest laser technology and much more.
There is so much more attraction coming in every year. This year one new pavilion has been specifically added to promote Handcrafts from low income families, supported by Khalifa Bin Zayed al Nahyan foundation. There has also been a step ahead by hosting a specially commissioned world premiere 3D show for the first time ever in Dubai.
I personally attend Global Village 3 to 4 times a year and more if guests come in. It’s a break from majority indoor activities, which are the only choice during hot weather. I would like to share some pictures I took at Global Village 2012.
